Exactly One Week Away…

Happy Friday!

I am so glad that it’s Friday too!  Thursday’s are big nights for some people and this past Thursday I actually had a lot going on.  We had a retirement party for our Houston VP and there was such a great turn out!  I actually got talking to some people and the topic of conversation was my glasses.  Many of these people that I have worked with in the business world have mentored me, coached me, or guided me on my career path and many of them had not seen me wear my glasses before.  I had some compliments on my glasses, but of course told them that in about a week there will be no more glasses for me.  Some of the people that I talked with had actually had lasik done before and they said how it was one of the best decisions they ever made.  Of course, as the time gets nearer I get a little nervous but I want to be able to look back to and know that lasik was one of the best decisions I ever made too.

After the retirement party I had to make my way for a work event at a local bar/nightclub.  Those are always fun and each one is unique to itself!  The one thing that bothers my eyes the most is all the cigarette smoke.  My eyes water and since I’ve been a little under the weather it just makes it worse.

 Counting down the days….

Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy some R&R!

Almost the End of the Month…

Good morning! I can not believe that November is basically over! Need to really get on top of all my Christmas shopping so I don’t leave it all to last minute.

Well, it is very good to hear from everyone and hear your feedback and comments.  I really enjoy reading what you have to say and your thoughts.  Thank you!

I also just realized that it’s that time of year for many companies “open enrollment” periods when you can adjust your flex spending, etc.  I would highly suggest that if you’re looking into lasik you think about this and I would even think that it would be a good idea to call Mann Eye to see how your flex spending can best help you and help you save money.  Just something to think about and really if it’s going to help keep some dollars in your pocket, why not?

On another note, I am planning out my day of lasik to make sure that I have rides everywhere, etc.  You are not allowed to drive the day of and it’s best for you to have someone drive you.  I have my mother taking or meeting me at Mann Eye the day of my lasik procedure (hopefully she’ll be so kind to hold my hand as well when my nerves kick in!) and then she’ll be driving me home.  The next day, when I have to go back for my follow up appointment my husband is driving me.  Lots of checks and balances and it makes me feel better knowing that I will have loved ones there to support me as I have my lasik procedure done.  I think that in many cases we don’t always say it, but it does feel good to have someone stand by you and tell you that everything will be okay.  It gives you a sense of reassurance and comfort!

For those of you that have friends or family looking into lasik or if you are yourself don’t hesitate to ask questions and get the support of those around you.

 Have a great day!

Middle of the Week

Good morning!

It’s mid-week and everyone is starting to buckle down for the holidays.  It’s that in-between time right now (after Thanksgiving but yet before Christmas) and everyone has their own agenda.

Well, it’s been almost a week now since I have been wearing my glasses and for those of you that wear glasses every day I have no idea how you do it!  From showering to putting on make-up in the morning to driving with that awful glare in your eyes because you can’t wear sunglasses…the list goes on and on for me.  Yet I am apprehensive about lasik and the whole thought about someone working on my eyes I am ecstatic about the end result.  I am also very thankful for the technology that we have today!  “Blade free” sounds so much more appealing that’s for sure!

Have you thought about lasik and if it might be something for you to consider?  I spoke with a friend the other day and besides your emotions holding you back the next thing is usually financing.  I do know that this is some thing that I looked into and I know that Mann Eye has financing options available for you.  Ultimately they want to help us see better too and financing plans are very helpful to many people.  Also though, I think about lasik and the actual procedure and know that if someone is going to be working on my eyes (remember you only have one set!) I want the most experienced doctor and technology so I’m going to be willing to pay a competitive price to do this right.  Lasik and your eyes are not something that you pinch pennies on!!!  Do you agree?  Just something to think…

Have a great day and until tomorrow….

A Cold and Chilly Tuesday…

Last night was the night of memories!  After a nice long run (3 miles is long in my book) it was time to start pulling out the Christmas decorations.  I have to say first though that during my jog my glasses bounced up and down on my face and made it not as pleasant as my usual workouts with my contacts.  They were just a nuisance that once I have lasik I will not have to worry about.  Thank goodness!

Well next it was on the the Christmas decorations.  My hubby shared the joys of many of the memories as well.  I always get a Christmas ornament on every vacation or place that we visit and over the years have collected many ornaments.  A tradition that I learned… Well, these ornaments that we placed on our tree brought back so many wonderful memories, memories that would of been different if I would of had the lasik procedure done about 3 years ago!  From snorkeling in Mexico…fishing in Hawaii…hiking the waterfalls of Kauai…hiking the mountains of New Mexico…late night shows and gambling in sin city Las Vegas…snow skiing the mountain tops of Angle Fire and Taos…water skiing the lakes of Pennsylvania…and touring the fast paced life of New York…and many many more memories it is amazing what we do with our family and friends.  If you don’t have a keepsake like my ornaments or pictures all these memories will get lost.  The reason why I bring up all these memories is because with lasik each of these would of been a different experience for me.  I wouldn’t of been worried about losing a contact when snorkeling, water skiing, or snow skiing!  With lasik I wouldn’t of had irritated eyes from late nights in Vegas or falling asleep on the beautiful beach with my contacts in.  There are so many things that would of been changed if I did not have glasses and contacts.  As we discussed each of these memories we discussed my upcoming lasik procedure and how much I have to look forward to!  I look forward to new memories and getting to do things and explore new adventures that I once was held back by glasses and contacts.

As you go through your pictures and decorate your Christmas tree this holiday I hope you think about how your life can be changed by lasik as well.  So…what do you think?

Have a great day and stay warm!

Consultation Day at Mann Eye

It has been such a busy morning I don’t even know where to begin!  I had my consultation at Mann Eye this AM and everyone there was very helpful.  I am a good lasik candidate!  I’m going to try and put up some of my eye scans/pictures tomorrow so you can see how precise they are and how you go through a very strategic screening process to determine if you are a good lasik candidate.  Although it’s time consuming it puts me at ease knowing how thorough and detailed everyone is at Mann Eye.  I feel confident in this lasik procedure (although there are always constant butterflies in my stomach just because we are talking about my eyes now!).  I have so much to gain from this lasik procedure and am confident in whom I have chosen to trust my eyes to.  Last Thursday was my last day to wear my contacts. they told me that I have to wear my glasses for 2 weeks prior to my scheduled procedure time.  They also told me that they will re-run the tests/eye scans the morning of my procedure to double check everything and make sure that my correction is the same as before.  Sometimes your eyes can adjust during the 2 weeks in your glasses and they just want to make sure everything is the same.  That is good and makes me feel comfortable with all the checks and balances!

Of course they know that I have some anxiety about having someone work on my eyes, but everyone that I dealt with at Mann Eye has done their best to calm my nerves and make this the best experience possible.  Lasik is a big decision and I feel like the one thing that usually holds someone back is their emotions and their nerves.  That’s why it’s so very important to find a good doctor and someone you can trust.  You trust them and you trust the technology that they’re using.  I strongly recommend Mann Eye and believe that I’m in good hands.  From the pre-screening to the procedure to the post-procedure follow-ups they have me covered.  I have scheduled my lasik procedure for a Friday morning and have my follow-up appointment the next Saturday morning.  Mann Eye has been very flexible with my schedule and found how lasik fits into my life as well.  Whether you’re doing lasik because you have terrible vision, are trying to correct a stigmatism, want to be able to see when you swim/snorkel/scuba or want to be able to see your significant other when you wake up in the morning- there are numerous reasons why you should consider lasik, but for me I have realized that this is something I am doing to help improve my life and my lifestyle.  Lasik will change the way I operate on a daily procedure- change it for the better!  If lasik can change every day of your life for the better then why wouldn’t you do it?  I’m not a doctor nor am I am scientist- I’m an average person who wants to be able to live life to its fullest.  I know you want to too!!!  So find a doctor you trust and if you have any questions about lasik I highly recommend Mann Eye and believe that they will be able to answer any question you have.  There are no bad questions when it comes to your eyes- feel free to call and ask- that’s what I did!

Talk to you tomorrow and have a great rest of your day!

Counting Down the Days…

I hope everyone had a great day yesterday for Thanksgiving!  Everything was delicious and we ended the night with great conversation and some hands of poker.  I went home a winner!  I hope you all enjoyed your day of food and relaxation as well.

Today it’s “black Friday” and I am not going any where near the malls!  Just not my scene and with now wearing my glasses until my lasik procedure the rainy weather does not make it the most enjoyable to go out and about either.  Do you enjoy wearing your glasses when it’s rainy outside?  How do you deal with it?

Well I can say I think I’ll be spending another day in the kitchen enjoying one of my most favorite pastimes and hobbies- cooking!  Today is “game day” and a very big game in that matter!  I come from a “divided household”- we have both UT and A&M fans/alum and every year this is a great game to partake in the festivities!  I have my orange and white on and will be rooting on the horns!  Let’s hope for the best!  Hook ‘Em for all you UT fans!!! It’s going to be another great day with some great game day food as well!  Bacon wrapped shrimp, hot spinach and artichoke dip, some bacon wrapped jalapenos and anything else I can mix up in the kitchen today!  My glasses are a hindrance in many aspects and cooking is just another one of them.  I tend to get messy in the kitchen (of course I clean up later) but things splattered and there are spills and when you’re hands are dirty it’s hard to take the time to stop what you’re doing and clean your glasses.  Can’t wait for lasik!!!

Enjoy all the football and hopefully a nice and relaxing Friday off from work.  See you all back at work on Monday and have a great rest of your weekend!  I’ll be counting down my days until my lasik procedure and can’t wait to give you an update after my consultation on Monday will Mann Eye!  Stay tuned….

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving and I hope you all have a wonderful day with family and friends!  The air is a little brisk like it should be for the holiday season and the sun is out so it looks like it’s going to be a beautiful day.

Last night I attended a pre-Thanksgiving dinner for a client and friend of mine and after was up late cooking for today’s delicious meal- preparing the seven layer salads and appetizers for the evening so I was up pretty late.  Today- Thanksgiving Day is going to be the last day that I wear my contacts.  I have to say- I am SO very THANKFUL for that- for lasik and for the technology that we have today.  It’s actually quite amazing!  These are the stories and the memories that I’ll be sitting around the Thanksgiving dinner table telling my kids and my grand children one day.  How exciting!  We all should be thankful for our vision.  It’s something that we take for granted every day.  Think about not being able to see the sun rise, the sun set, the rain drip drop into a pool of water- these little things that we see every day we forget about how thankful we are for our vision.  We are blessed to be able to see these small and wondrous miracle of life every day!  I hope that you are as thankful for your vision as I am!

Have a wonderful and memorable Thanksgiving Day!  Be thankful that you can actually see…to see those loving faces sitting around you at the dinner table…see the delicious turkey prepared before you…see the light and fluffy mashed potatoes calling your name…see that smile…see that genuine laugh of a loved one…to see is a blessing in itself!

 All the best!

PS- I will be “seeing” my way to the gym tomorrow morning after the wonderful Thanksgiving feast that will come later today!

The Day Before Thanksgiving…

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays of the year!  Good company and great food!  The smell of all the delicious flavors that spread throughout the house…it’s wonderful!  As you can see I’m ready to get off work and have some time with family.  I hope you have a great Thanksgiving too!

I spoke with Mann Eye yesterday to confirm my consultation on Monday and I am going to stop wearing my contacts as of Thursday.  I’ll be wearing the good ‘ole glasses the next week or two before my procedure- not looking forward to the glasses but I’ll get through it because I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel with lasik!

I can’t wait to share with you what everyone has to say about lasik over the holidays and I’ll be in touch!  Have safe travels if you’re going to see family and friends!

Take care and don’t work too hard today!

A Bright and Shiny Morning…

Yes- it is a free consultation at Mann Eye!  Call for yourself (1-800-MY-VISION) and I know they’ll tell you all about it.  They also have some holiday specials going on right now for you to take advantage of.  I have talked with friends and family about getting lasik done and one of the most important factors is to trust the person/doctor that you’re getting your lasik procedure done from.  I do have to say that the first time I walked into Mann Eye and did a tour of the facility there are 2 HUGE walls covered will diplomas and plaques of recognition from both doctors at Mann Eye.  Like father like son!  They both have so much experience under their belt that this makes me feel so comfortable trusting them with my eyes.  I keep on thinking to myself- these are your eyes you’re talking about- but yes, with the experience at Mann Eye and the new technology they have with the blade free Allegretto Wave Eye-Q method I have confidence in the lasik procedure.  Although I am still probably going to ask that someone hold my hand during the procedure (makes me feel a lot better- kind of like when you go to the doctor to get a shot!) I know and trust my vision to the doctors at Mann Eye.  I can’t wait to share with you all the info after the “free” consultation and what I and maybe you too have to look forward to with lasik!

This past Sunday at church we talked about “Thanksgiving Eyes” and the underlying meaning of the holiday season and giving thanks, etc.  I also came to realize that this will be my last Thanksgiving with glasses and contacts!  Those nights of falling asleep in your contacts or wiping the raindrops away from your glasses will be gone once and for all.

I hope you all give thanks for the little things in life too and have “Thanksgiving Eyes” this holiday season as well!  Have a great day!

A New Week…

There is just so much to talk about concerning the weekend that I don’t even know where to begin…

To start, after this weekend I have realized that I am REALLY looking forward to my consultation with the doctor’s at Mann Eye.  It started on Saturday when it was rainy and dreary out and I still was wearing my glasses of course…the rain drops on your glasses do not help start your morning off right in my book.  It’s just so annoying!  I want to be able to have it rain outside and not let it affect my vision/seeing.  My errands were not the same Saturday AM with the hindrance of my glasses and the terrible weather.  Then it continues…Saturday night I was entertaining family and since I love to cook and this is my thing!  The smell of starting up a bbq grill just draws you in a when you’re in good company is just makes for a great evening, but of course mind you I am still wearing my glasses from earlier that day.  From the appetizers to the drinks all was going well, but then as I am in the middle of cooking the steaks, sausage and chicken diablo’s of course my problems start!  The grill is so hot and when you open it up to flip the food you have to breathe in a huge breathe of smoke (although it smells delicious!) and when you’re wearing glasses this is not the best thing at all.  The smoke from the grill gets caught between your glasses and your eye and it is terribly irritating!  With the amount that I cook and entertain this is one issue that I am ready to get rid of as well!

Now onto Sunday… starting the morning off it is troubling to put on make-up before church when you’re blind as a bat.  The thoughts that just kept running though my mind were- what are people at church going to think when they see this terrible make-up job!  It’s hard to sit right up close to a mirror to be able to make out any specific image in your face to apply make up.  As a woman, I know you can relate to this!!!  We put on make-up almost every day of our life and this something that lasik will solve for me!!!  I will be able to sit at my vanity and put make-up on and not have to worry about not being able to see.  Us women just for this factor alone should praise and worship the lasik procedure!!!  Thoughts?

I hope you all had a great weekend too and am curious to know about any additional questions that I should ask the doctor’s at Mann Eye when I go in for my consultation.  Want to make sure that I have all of my I’s dotted and T’s crossed!  Happy Monday and have a great week!

 All the best!
